Step-by-Step Guide: How to Avail MSME Registration Online in India

If you're an entrepreneur or a small business owner in India, registering your enterprise as a Micro, Small, or Medium Enterprise can bring numerous benefits. The MSME registration process has now been made easier with the option to apply online.

Step 1: Fill out the Online Form

To initiate the MSME registration process, visit the official website of MSME and locate the online registration form. Fill in all the required details as mentioned below:

I. Personal Details:

  • Aadhar Number & Name of the Owner: The name of the owner or applicant should match the name on the Aadhar card issued by UIDAI. An OTP (On Time Password) will be sent to the registered mobile number linked to your Aadhar card for validation.
  • PAN: Mandatory for Co-operative, Private Limited, Public Limited, and Limited Liability Partnerships. It is optional for other organizations.
  • Bank Details: Provide the account number and IFSC code of the bank account associated with your enterprise.

II. Enterprise Details:

  • Name of the Enterprise
  • Type of Organization
  • Location of Plant
  • Address of Enterprise
  • Date of Commencement of Business Operations
  • Major Activity: Specify whether your enterprise is involved in manufacturing or providing services.
  • National Industry Classification Code (NIC Code)
  • Investment in Plant & Machinery/Equipment
  • DIC (District Industries Center)
  • Step 2: Submit the Filled-in Application Form

Once you have completed the online form with all the necessary details, click on the "Submit" button. An OTP will be generated and sent to the registered email address and mobile number. Enter the OTP received to proceed with the MSME registration process.

Step 3: Enter CAPTCHA and Final Submit

Before finalizing the submission of your application, enter the CAPTCHA code provided. This is to ensure that the application is being submitted by a human and not a bot. Once you have entered the CAPTCHA correctly, click on the "Final Submit" button.

Important Note:

If you do not possess an Aadhar number but have already applied for it, you can provide alternative documents as follows:

  • Aadhar Enrolment ID slip or copy of the request made for Aadhar enrolment

OR

  •  Bank Photo Passbook, Voter ID card, Passport, Driving License, PAN card, or an employee photo identity card issued by the Government.
